The legendary Silk Road

This is a legendary itinerary through which a thousand years ago caravans with goods were already moving from China and Central Asia to Europe and back. Along the whole Silk Road there are large and beautiful cities with rich culture and history. Besides history, this itinerary is also interesting because of the amazing nature of the regions where it passes. The journey starts at the very centre of the European plain, takes the tourists through dense forests, steppes and even deserts, and ends at the foot of the Tien Shan Mountain Range.

MOSCOW – VOLGDOGRAD – KHIVA – BUKHARA  – SAMARKAND – TASHKENT  – ALMATY

Moscow

Moscow is the largest city and the capital of the Russian Federation. The city's rich history is reflected in its many landmarks, a large number of which is included in the UNESCO world heritage list.

Places of interest

The Moscow Kremlin, the Armoury Chamber, the Red Square, the GUM Department Store, the Bolshoi Theatre, the cathedral of Basil the Blessed, the Moscow subway, the State Tretiakov Gallery, the Zaryadye park, the Arbat street, the Moskva-City complex, the State Historical Museum, the Novodevichy Convent and many other museums and parks.

Volgograd

The city is located on the ancient trade route that connected the Viking lands to the Arabian countries. Today Volgograd is a large industrial city in the southern part of Russia. The city is famous throughout the whole world because one of the key battles of the Great Patriotic War, which changed its course, happened near it.

The Stalingrad Battle panorama museum, the memorial complex To the Heroes of the Stalingrad Battle on the Mamaev Kurgan, the Memorial historical museum, the Pamyat museum, the ruins of the Gergard mill. 

Khiva

Khiva is another city with rich history founded more than 2500 years ago. The city was one of the most important points on the Silk Road. Today the historical monuments of Khiva are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Itchan-Kala — the Khiva old town, the Friday mosque, the Kuhna Ark fortress, the Kalta Minor minaret, the Pahlawan Mahmud Mausoleum, the Stone Palace, the Muhammad Amin Khan medrese, the Islam Khoja complex, the Seid Allaudin Mausoleum.

Mary/Merv

Merv is one of the most ancient cities of Central Asia. The earliest information about the city is dated with the end of the 3rd millennium BC. Today the ruins of the ancient city located close to the Turkmenian city of Mary are declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bukhara

Bukhara is another city rich in cultural and historical monuments. Bukhara is more than 2500 years old. The numerous mosques and medreses demonstrate the various stages of the city's eventful history.

The Chor Minor medrese, the Ulugbek medrese, the Ark fortress and the Zindan jail of the emirs, the Samanids mausoleum, the Bola-Hauz architectural ensemble, the Taqi Zargaron covered market, the Kalyan minaret, the Po-i-Kalyan architectural ensemble.

Samarkand

Samarkand is one of the oldest existing cities of the world. The city was founded back in the 8th century B.C. The walls of Samarkand remember Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and Timur. The whole city is an open-air architectural and historical monument.

The Registan square and ensemble, the Ulugbek Madrasah, the Tilla Kari Madrasah, the Timurid family crypt, the Shakhi-Zinda ensemble, the Bibi-Khanym Mausoleum, Ulugbek's observatory. 

Tashkent

Tashkent is the capital and the largest city of Uzbekistan. It is the true jewel of the Silk Road. The history of Tashkent extends back several thousand years, and of course such a long history left its trace in the city in the form of a number of unique interesting places and artefacts worth seeing.

The Old Town, the State museum of the history of Uzbekistan, the Ulugbek medrese, the Kukeldash medrese, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral, the State museum of the Timurid history, the Tashkent museum of railway equipment, the Amir Temur park.

Almaty

Large city in the south of Kazakhstan. For a long time it was the capital of Kazakhstan. The city is located in the most beautiful place, at the foot of the Tien Shan Mountain Range.

Places of interest

The cableway, the sightseeing platform on the Kok Tobe Mountain, the entertainment part on the Kok Tobe Mountain, the Ascension Cathedral in the park named after the 28 Panfilov guard soldiers, the Chimbulak ski resort (outside of the city), the famous mountain ice rink Medeu, the Ile Alatau national park.
